Sicilian style Pizza in SOHO

27 Prince St A, New York, NY 10012, USA

Ok where to start. The smell coming from this place was enough to lure people in. It smelt of garlic and fresh bread. They had trays and trays of thick rectangle pizzas loaded with sauce and toppings. We chose a pepperoni slice and a magherita slice. OH MY GOD. I don't even know how to explain how good this was. If you ever go to New York this should be at the top of your list. The sauce. THE SAUCE. Oh my lord. Unbelievably sweet and just had a super super tomato fresh flavour. The cheese was underneath the sauce and was insane. I honestly don't know what cheese they used but it was utterly fantastic. So elastic and stringy but also held in place and didn't slip off anywhere. That was also the advantage of having the sauce on top, so the cheese didn't slip off the base. As well as having the sauce as the star. When you bite into this, the sauce is what you taste first. And that's how it should be, because it is truely the star here. Just a thin layer of added parmesan and oregano on top was all it needed. I honestly preferred the magherita slice because sometimes the simplest options allow the ingredients and quality to shine through. The base was almost like a foccacia. It was quite bready but super super super crispy and was a perfect match for the sauce and cheese. OUTSTANDING PIZZA.
