"Hole in the wall" Cuban restaurant that sells the best damn sandwich in the city

136 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036, USA

Just. Just look at this. How could this not be incredible. I found this place by googling cheap eats near Times Square, and they seemed to be known for selling some fantastic cubanos. So we put this into Google Maps and tried to track this place down. If you didn't know where to find this, you would never find it. It was hidden behind some scaffolding with these tiny doors. As soon as we entered this guy working there said "you're after the cuban sandwiches right?" and we got 2 of course. The staff were super friendly and joking around with us. While we waited for our cubanos, I was entranced but their amazing counter of hot food that so many people where coming in buying their takeaway lunch. Huge portions of stewed meats and orange rice. I would love to come back to try some of this food. Our cubanos were ready and I couldn't believe how good these looked but also the aroma coming of this was mind blowing. Biting into this was incredible. The bread was unbelievably crunchy and toasted to perfection. The roast citrus pork was out of this world, especially with their added citrus garlic sauce. There was ham, pork and salami on this which I thought would be super heavy but was actually brilliant. The pickles were glorious. Thickly cut and crunchy. Heaps of cheese and mayo, as well as a bit of a kick from some hot sauce. I would come back to New York just for this sandwich. Absolutely brilliant.
